The Canadian Olympic Committee's Family & Friends Program

The Canadian Olympic Committee’s (COC) Family & Friends (F&F) Program is designed to provide specific pre-Games and Games-time services and resources for family members and friends of Canadian Olympians competing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Working together with National Sport Federations (NSF) and sport stakeholders, the COC will host family members and friends so that athletes, coaches and team leaders can focus on performance. Canada Olympic House (COH) is the physical location for, and an integral component to, the delivery of the COC’s at-Games Family & Friends Program.

Pre-games services & Resources
  • The COC will provide a variety of resources to help National Sport Federations (NSFs) manage Family & Friends (F&F) plans for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. This includes support for NSF Family & Friends Coordinators, who will be the main point of contact for F&F, as well as a series of resources for family members as they prepare to support their athlete’s performance at the Games. You can contact your National Sport Federation (NSF) Family & Friends Coordinator with any questions you may have or additional information you may need.
  • The Family & Friends Tips Document provides information to ensure Family & Friends have a positive (or neutral) influence in an athlete’s final phase of Olympic preparation
  • The Family & Friends Logistics Document will be a resource to help families and friends plan for accommodation, transportation, ticketing, COH registration, and other logistics. This document will be updated regularly with new important information to assist you in your planning.
Games-Time Services & Resources

Guests will have access to a multitude of products, information, services and resources. Canada Olympic House operations will consist of the following:

  • Dedicated F&F Officers will be “in-person information resources” to assist athlete’s family and friends onsite
  • Dedicated special events at COH for athletes and their Family & Friends including Opening and Closing Ceremony celebrations
